Pinterest Q & A

We often get asked a lot of the same questions on social media marketing so we decided we would devote this month’s blogs to Q&A sessions on four of the major social media platforms – Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter & Instagram. Last week’s blog post was a Q&A on Facebook, read it here. This week we are going to focus on Pinterest.

Q: Can my business have a Pinterest profile or just a personal profile?

A: Yes a business profile/page can be set up on Pinterest, as well as personal pages.

Q: Do I have to be invited or can anyone set up a profile?

A: When Pinterest first started out they required new users to receive an ‘invitation’ to sign up, but that was ‘retired’ a couple years ago and anyone can sign up now (for free!).

Q: What kind of pins should I post and boards should I create on my Pinterest business profile?

A: One of the great things about Pinterest is it allows for a great spectrum of creativity and really showing a business’s personality. For those with product based companies this is a great platform to showcase those products. For those with more service based offerings then use Pinterest as a way to share beliefs, values and pictures of yourself and staff.

Q: How often should I post on Pinterest?

A: This entirely depends on the user, as there is no real right or wrong answer for this. We do recommend at least making a couple pins a week so it stays current.

Q: Can my Pinterest page be linked to my other Social Media accounts?

A: On the profile page there is the capability to link to Twitter, Google+, and Facebook pages so the links will be on there for people to click. Also, every time a pin is about to be posted there is an option to share on Twitter or Facebook (if accounts are linked).

Q: When is the best time to add pins and create boards?

A: Similar to the Facebook when to post in our previous blog, this is best determined by trial and error; however, the mass majority of people that get on Pinterest do so in the evening or weekend hours so that is a good place to start. According to Mashable, Saturday mornings are the best times to post. Don’t do everything all at once though; try spreading pins out over a specific time frame.

Q: Can I put my Pinterest boards on my website?

A: Yes, there is a way to create widgets to add to a website from the settings.
